PRESS RELEASE!

Black Friday's Black Jack-Jack Hammer Charity Cigar Even at Two Guys Smoke
Shop a SMASHING SUCCESS

Salem, New Hampshire Nov. 28, 2010 -- Dave Garofalo of Two Guys Smoke Shop
at 304 South Broadway in Salem, New Hampshire orchestrated a
first-of-its-kind day for cigar lovers on Black Friday,  he called it,
"Black Jack-Jack Hammer Friday."
"Most know that the day after Thanksgiving is 'Black Friday,' a day that
some retailers call the busiest shopping day of the year.  Getting up a 4am
to save $20 on a crock pot might be fun for some of the ladies, but Garofalo
said, it's not for the guys, this event was.
For the guys, they created a day not only for men but it benefited local
policeman and firemen, as well.
Doors opened at 10:00 a.m. with what Garofalo called great deals on all Drew
Estates Cigar brands including Chateau Real, Acid, Tabac Especiale, Joya de
Nicaragua and Liga Privada.
The crowd was lively and brisk, "Not only did they light up in the shop and
enjoy a great premium cigar, but there was lots going on.  You could play
blackjack, with free play with box purchases, or re-buys to benefit the
local police and fire departments.  The most consecutive game wins entitle
the top 10 to some great prizes including tools, gift certificates, cigars,
humidors and lighters.
"At 12:00 noon, that is when the Jack-Hammer came in. "The Human Anvil,"
"The Hammer Head," "The Man with the Thickest Skull," as seen on The History
Channel as super-human John Ferraro light up his cigar and smoked as cement
cinder blocks are placed on top of his head and smashed by a sledgehammer.
Then a concrete block was jack hammer them into destruction, on his head.
At 7:00 p.m., the local police and fire departments brought in their finest,
with a Tug of War competition for a total of $5,000.  The winner, the Salem
Police Department, received 60% of the money ($3,000) and the loser (Salem
Fire), received 40% of the funds collected and took with then $2,000

WILDEST BLACK FRIDAY AT A CIGAR SHOP EVER?

Los Angeles, November 29, 2010 – "Black Friday" is a key date for many retailers, but not many cigar shops did it with more energy than Dave Garofalo's Two Guys Smoke Shop in Salem, New Hampshire last Friday.

How about charity blackjack to support the Salem police and fire departments, followed by a demonstration of just how hard "Hammer Head" John Ferraro's head is, and ending with a tug-of-war between the Salem Police and Fire departments for $5,000 in charity? Oh, yes, there was also a major Drew Estate sale inside the store, in the presence of Drew Estate president Steve Saka.

"Getting up a 4 a.m. to save $20 on a crock pot might be fun for some of the ladies," said Garofalo, "but it's not for the guys; this event was."

While the Drew Estate sale and the charity blackjack hands were going on inside, Ferraro (better known in professional wrestling circles as Gino Martino) – featured on "Stan Lee's Superhumans" program on The History Channel as "The Human Anvil" – was having cinder blocks broken over his head by a jack hammer and then a sledgehammer, all the while keeping a lit cigar in his mouth!

In the nightcap, members of the Salem Police and Fire departments faced off in a tug-of-war between five-member teams to split a $5,000 donation from the shop. The Salem Police emerged as winners and received $3,000 while the Fire Department received $2,000.

The "Black Jack-Jackhammer Friday" was the latest, but possibly not the last of a wild set of 2010 promotions from 2 Guys, including their 25th anniversary celebration during which a Rolls Royce Silver Spur was given away, a hilarious comic book which tracks Garofalo and his late brother on a fictional tour around the cigar world looking for a big name maker to create an anniversary cigar for them and now this. But the year still has a month to go . . .

SALEM — The specter of death hung heavy in the air outside Two Guys.

Or maybe it was just the fragrant smoke from the dozen or so cigar-puffing spectators collected in the smoke shop's parking lot at high noon yesterday.

No matter. It was all about the moment.

A man they call "The Human Anvil." A block of concrete. A few patio bricks. His younger brother, living the dream of younger brothers everywhere, armed with sledgehammer and jackhammer. One thick skull, as the brothers say, documented by Harvard Med and the History Channel.

The man on his knees, holding first the block, then the bricks, upon his head.

His brother, atop a wooden stand, wielding his weapons of destruction.

The man, totally focused now, eyes bulging as the blows were delivered. He leaned forward ever so slightly as the bricks crumbled.

Then, not exactly a scream, more like a growl, and The Human Anvil emerged, fists clenched, arms flexed, to nods of approval, laughter, applause and handshakes. People staring in disbelief from passing traffic on Route 28.

Death defied once more, as it had been hundreds of times before.

John Ferraro knows how to take a pounding.

"It's like I told you," Ferraro said, explaining that animal-like sound. "In that moment, I'm on the beach in Laconia. I feel the jackhammer. I feel the initial boom. Then all my energy is releasing."

Ferraro is not your average vice president of sales and marketing with a plastics company. He also is a professional wrestler, a strongman with a special talent uncovered early in life for breaking things over his head. And escaping concussion, although his forehead shows at least a dozen scars.

He uses two names, not uncommon for a guy from Revere, Mass., but he comes by his second name legitimately. He wrestles and does his Human Anvil exhibitions as Gino Martino.

Brother Joey helped launch him on this career. Neither brother can recall the reason for the quarrel, but John was giving chase as the heavy, oak door slammed into his head.

John survived, the door was damaged. Mother was upset. John had to expand the paper route, pay for the door.

"But I knew I had a special ability," Ferraro recalled.

He's done this with bricks, concrete, boards, iron bars. You name it. The martial arts training helped, but the brothers stress it's really the skull.

His motto: "It's mind over matter. When you're out of your mind, it just doesn't matter."

In the moment, there is a quick prayer to St. Jude. As John goes mentally to his happy place on Lake Winnipesaukee, Joey blocks out distractions.

"You always have to be 100 percent paying attention," Joey Ferraro said. "Where that blade is going, if it slips? It could cut his skull, take his ear, permanently scar him. It could be a fatal blow, you don't know."

"Don't try it, you're not a professional," Joey said.

Store owner David Garofalo said yesterday's event, in conjunction with Drew Estate cigars, was intended to benefit Salem police and firefighters, who last night were squaring off in a tug-of-war competition as part of the festivities.

John Ferraro admits "I'm putting my body on the line every time I do it. "But I will be doing it forever. I won't ever stop."
